Can’t sleep? Get Some Lavender, the Rest is Easy
Lavender for insomnia, could it be that easy? Increasingly the requests are coming for products to help people sleep, so I did need to research and find some answers.
Insomnia: 21st century complaint?
In a digital age where everyone expects everything to be done yesterday, I’m not surprised when I am told that many people not only can’t sleep but suffer from chronic insomnia!
Insomnia seems to be a common complaint in the 21st century. You may be an experienced marketer with your own business, have a stressful job or are busy studying for exams. Or a busy parent juggling many roles.
Help Is At Hand….so relax
You can now relax, try some lavender for insomnia and the rest will come easy. Good news or not?! Whatever the reason for your lack of sleep; insomnia is both draining and can affect our health long-term. Breathe a sigh of relief….help is at hand.
Cost Effective Remedy?
On researching the many uses of lavender, I realise that here is a cost-effective remedy. Indeed this may be the answer to stress relief and maybe even result in a good night’s sleep. As I do not seem to need too many hours sleep; this has not been something I have found to be a problem.
Just as well really as with time zone differences and all that my blogging journey entails; there isn’t too much time for sleep these days! Only joking…..maybe. But as this post is for my readers, let me explain further.
Happy Researcher
The more I researched, the happier I was. Why you may ask? Well, you know I have a passion for all things lavender. And now with medical research to back up what the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans knew many years ago, I can only smile and say “We lavender lovers told you so!”
History Proves Us Right
You see these fighting men would come home from conquering yet another country and would need to dust off the dirt and the stench of war. What better way than relaxing in a bath with the addition of fresh lavender flowers.
You may want to just add lavender essential oil. Either way, relaxing with lavender sure helps with de-stressing if the need arises.
Researchers Confirm What Lavender Lovers Knew
So what I am alluding to is that although this was common knowledge in days long ago; the medical profession and researchers alike think they have made a new discovery.
Well they do need to do controlled studies and be able to measure the results. That’s just how medical research works. Trust me, I’ve been involved in medical research and that’s exactly how it’s done.
Helpful Hints To Beat Insomnia
So if you are weary, stressed or just want to relax, then lavender for insomnia could help. May even get a good night’s sleep too.
- Use a sleep pillow – I have several satisfied customers who are now sleeping peacefully each night after purchasing one of these. They couldn’t wait to tell me their story.
- Several drops of essential oil on a pillow before sleep. This essential oil is the most popular essential oil and used more than any other by many experienced aroma therapists. Its uses are being confirmed by more studies being done and I will keep you up to date as I read about them.
- Essential oil in a diffuser in the bedroom will enhance sleep
- Lavender spray on the pillow just before you retire for the evening. I have shared one of my customer’s stories below. To get a good night’s sleep after years of insomnia; was worth sharing
- Soy lavender candles. Not only do they have a beautiful perfume, they bring a soothing and relaxing ambience to any room they are used in. In a previous post I stressed the safety aspects of using soy candles. This is another benefit for you to enjoy.
- Lavender bath oil added to a bath of warm water. Soak in your lavender bath to relax and enjoy the soothing effects it brings
Makes It So Worthwhile
Only the other day while out for a walk, I was stopped by a satisfied customer. They were so excited. Suffering from insomnia for years, this woman had purchased my lavender spray. She was desperate to get a good night’s sleep.
After spraying lavender on her pillow that night, she had the first decent night’s sleep in years. She was beaming. I was smiling. Another satisfied customer who by the way was telling my Mother only this week all about the wonderful products she is now buying from me!
Before I had published this post, this satisfied customer has just re-ordered the lavender spray. I checked how it was working. She assured me she continues to get a good night’s sleep every night with the aid of her lavender spray. That’s a great result and the lovely lavender’s still smelling sweet.
Lavender for Insomnia
By the testimonials here and the clinical trials being carried out by medical practitioners, it can be said that lavender for insomnia can work. Good news indeed!

Interesting; I don’t have trouble getting to sleep but sometimes staying asleep. Anywhere from 3-5 am I reach this half asleep half awake stage where technically I think I’m asleep but I feel I am totally aware of my surroundings. I will have to try this remedy; thanks for sharing.
PS – side note – now I know why I don’t have Tweetmeme on my site. I’m signed up for the ‘free’ WordPress and they don’t allow it. I think I will run with it for awhile however to see if it is sustainable for me. However, I do appreciate your support and trying to ‘educate’ me.
Hi Bill
Good to hear you don’t have trouble getting to sleep. So many people I have spoken to, do seem to and it’s been great to be able to suggest some natural products that work.
Let me know if this helps with you getting back to sleep. Sure hope so.
Let me know when/if you change things and are able to use Tweetmeme. I find it really good.

Hi Pat,
I don’t have any trouble getting into sleep. In fact my wife was complaining i sleep too deep. So difficult to wake me up.
I will take note of people around me who has insomnia. Will surely recommend them your remedy. Thanks for sharing.
Lye
Hi Lye
That’s great that you don’t have trouble sleeping. Me neither, but then I don’t seem to need much sleep.
I enjoy doing the research and finding more uses for the lovely lavender. It’s great to see more and more people embracing natural products, free from harmful chemicals and pesticides.
And with all the medical research being done, being able to have confidence in their effectiveness.
Always good to have you stopping by Lye. Thanks for your input.

Aaa I needed that the other night. I occassionally have a horrible case of insomnia and I don’t get much sleep as it is. I think I need to order some and try it out. Btw my latest post is for you though you may cringe.
Hi Melinda
If you do try any of the products I recommend, please let me know how you get on.
I am pleased to report I have some very happy customers. Had more people ask me today about some of the products. There seems to be a lot of people having trouble sleeping, by the sound of things!
Will be right over to read your post. Still looking forward to when you Guest Post here with your photos of the lovely lavender you will successfully grow
Thanks for stopping by Melinda. Always good to have you join the conversation.
Patricia Perth Australia
You know you will hear about the results. Do you have any spray I can order. I didn’t see any in the shop.
Hi Melinda
If you look in the Etsy shop it is called Lavender spray. I don’t think Amazon has any. Not that I could see. They do have lavender essential oil.
Just make sure if you don’t buy from my Etsy store that it is organic English lavender. I know Amazon do have some that is organic.
With my locally sourced products, I know they work as I have sold so many of them and my customers have been re-ordering.
They are so thrilled with the results that they were happy to do testimonials after the first lot were sold. I put the testimonials in the post when I wrote about the lavender party
Have also had lovely emails from both New Zealand and the UK about the products too. So glad people are enjoying the products and finding them effective.
Sent a parcel off to the US for a lady’s birthday. Wrapped it in lavender paper and did a card for the buyer, who was a regular vistor to my site.
She was so pleased to be able to send a lavender gift to her Mum in the US. Got a lovely email about that too. As I said in the post….makes it all worthwhile
Hope that helps. And thanks for asking as I do want the products to be easy to find.

Hey Patricia, first thanks for the link love, I feel it
I fortunately don’t have much trouble sleeping because I get tired from blogging during the day, lol. Add some puppy chasing all day long and that is it. I also get up too early, meaning, don’t sleep enough, so I can always fall asleep.
However, I can still see benefits to this and can’t see why wouldn’t I try these ideas. Just having that nice smell all over the room before I fall asleep sounds like a good idea.
Now that I think if that, here is a challenge for you. How can lavender help my puppy smell less. Well she doesn’t smell, but she is a dog after all, so it would be better if she smelled like a pile of lavender, lol. Or is there something that can help her gums, she is loosing baby teeth and is pretty down.
Anyway, I know how busy you are, so I will let you do this research after the big launch!
Hi Brankica
You definitely earned the linkluv. Who else would be looking for graphics at midnight….I know you thought there was a fire when I put out the URGENT call lol
And I definitely don’t take credit for anything on this blog that I don’t do myself
Thanks again for coming to the rescue. It was very much appreciated.
I have just the thing for your puppy. It’s a lavender spray that would make her smell beautiful. Lavender is an anti-inflammatory so will get back to you about how safe it is to use on a puppy’s gums.
Like you, I don’t have trouble sleeping. After a day of blogging, researching, networking and all the other activities involved in getting a business up & running, sleep comes easy…..just not very much sleep with time zones and the like
Thanks for stopping by, staying to add to the conversation and all the support you give me. Much appreciated Brankica.

Wow,
I am going to get my comment in the first 25 today. usually I am so late I consider the conversation almost “over” here
That is a good thing you Patricia, you have such a lively bunch of lavender enthusiasts here!
First of all I LOVE the use of the Homonym in the title. That is so clever. I love little clever wordplays like that. I figured it had to be an Aussie thing to be that clever, until i saw that Alex helped with it at end. That man is certainly the title “king”
As for the post itself….
I am continually surprised by all of the awesome uses of lavender. Before I started reading your blog, I thought it was just a very pleasant smelling plant. Now I am learning all of the possibilities and it seems every week I’m amazed that another attribute from lovely lavender.
Have a great week…
-Steve
Hi Steve
Well Alex is a fellow Aussie so you were right that it was an Aussie thing LOL When I asked him if he could come up with a title I did think maybe this time he wouldn’t be able to…..what does Mr Whalley know about lavenders??!!
He gave me 2 to choose from so kudos to the king of quotes and master of headlines eh
That’s why I mentioned him at the end of the post. Wanted to give credit to him for his contribution.
He had been impressed with my title for the previous post…wow that was praise indeed I thought. Then I got stuck for this post. Definitely not something that comes as naturally to me.
Glad you are learning and appreciating more about the lovely lavender each visit Steve. I enjoy researching its many uses. Means that people can then make informed choices about both buying products and how to use them correctly.
BTW Your latest post is getting some great comments from a few of the marketers too. I really got a lot from it and have been back to read more comments. Way to go Steve.
Thanks for your input and next week I’ll be continuing the theme from this week, which I hope will also be another pleasant surprise.
Patricia Perth Australia
haha thanks Steve!
And thanks for the kudos and link love Patricia.
Using the title made me go ‘phew’ more than anything LOL!
Take care, I’m to get some sleep – lavender or no lavender. (the secret: dont sleep for two days previous)
Hi Alex
Steve was duly impressed with the title
And funny that he knew it must have been an Aussie who wrote it….he just didn’t figure the right Aussie till the end of the post LOL
Why wouldn’t I use the title??!! King of quotes and master of headlines…..it’s being commented on all over the blogosphere. And remember, I knew you before you were ALMOST famous
Thanks for stopping by Alex as I know it’s after 3am in your part of Oz! Always appreciate your input and your continued support of my blogging venture.
Patricia Perth Australia
Hi Patricia,
I have been putting a couple of drops of lavender on the pillow when I need to for a few years and it works. It is subtle but before you know it you are asleep.
I haven’t heard of the diffuser before. Must check out your products. One question for you is there much difference in quality of different brands?
Hi Susan
That’s great that you already know about and are using the lovely lavender to aid with sleep. To many it is a new discovery and from some conversations I’ve been having, seems there are heaps of people suffering from insomnia!
As you’ve asked me…..the most important thing is to check it is organic English lavender. I did a post about this awhile back entitled “Lavender Products: Cheap But Not So Cheerful” because there are products out there that are not what I would recommend.
As our skin is semi-permeable I am cautious about what I rub into it! It goes into the bloodstream and is absorbed. That’s another reason I like to promote natural products.
Because I have been and checked out the local farm where I source my natural lavender products, I am relaxed about using them.
Some companies I have noted try to give the appearance of natural by their packaging. Sadly, some are not.
Any more questions about brands, I’m happy to answer. Just email me and if I don’t know the brand will do some research for you. Hope that helps.
Patricia Perth Australia
First off, Patricia, I was absolutely delighted to see you over at my blog since I posted about “insomnia”, too! Thanks so much for the visit and for sharing your thoughts.
You’re a blog commenter extraordinaire!
I’ve always known lavender to be soothing, calming, and relaxing but I haven’t tried it yet. I love to take a soak in the tub, so my first choice would be lavender bath oil. And for extra measure, spraying a little on my pillow sounds great.
Thanks for the expert lavender tips and tricks!
Hi Melanie
I did smile when I saw your post….trending topic eh LOL And loved the humour in the post too
These products actually work so I have no hesitation recommending them.
Really enjoy sharing what the lovely lavender can be used for. Give people informed choices and if you look back through the lavender products and lavender health posts, hopefully they give some helpful information too.
Thanks for stopping by Melanie and adding to the conversation. Appreciated.

I find that the older I get the less sleep I seem to need – so no trouble going to sleep but often wake up at ridiculously early times. I usually get up and start work – the benefits of working from home.
Is the Etsy Store still going? I seem to have trouble accessing it. Want to buy more lavender sachets for my linen cupboard.
Hi Dawn
I have never needed much sleep. Hard on my friends and family LOL But I sleep peacefully and don’t usually wake in the night. Probably cos I don’t sleep for very long each night!
My store is still up and running. I checked it earlier and it was working okay. If you click on one of the products it should take you there.
If you are putting things in with your linen to prevent moths, silverfish, the hearts work well. They are solid and essential oils. People hand them in their wardrobes here in Oz. Will be efficient for at least 3 years.
The products are getting re-orders which I am so happy about. Means my customers are pleased with their products and I know from new customers that many are being recommended by satisfied established customers
Hope your business is going well. I am working on a new project at the moment that is a bit different to this site. Will be doing a comparison once it has been running for a few months. Want to compare business models.
As always, great to have you stopping by and leaving a comment Dawn.
Patricia Perth Australia
That’s strange. When I click on the More On Lavender Store link it takes me to an empty store and when I click on a product it says the product does not exist. I’ll try deleting my cookies and see if that changes anything. Don’t know why it should but I can’t think of anything else!
Hi Dawn
I just checked and you are right. Link not working. That’s strange as it was working yesterday. I will get sorted and get back to you Dawn.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Patricia Perth Australia
No problem. My linen cupboard can wait. I just don’t want you missing out on sales!
Thanks Dawn. You are so kind. And the next excitement for the day was I couldn’t get on my site!!!! Decided to go have a cuppa with my Mum. She only lives couple minutes walk away.
Wasted a good hour trying to get on here and then thought I would turn everything off and take a break.
Came back after an hour so so and voila can get back on. Technology remains a mystery to me LOL
Will email you when the store is back up. Just waiting on action from Etsy.
Patricia Perth Australia
Patricia,
I’m a lavender lover too! The way I like to use calming essential oils like lavender is this: I put a few drops in a jar of sea salt and shake it up. Then for each relaxing bath I just pour it in a half a cup to a cup (for very stressful days) and enjoy. Just a few drops of the essential oil fragrances the whole (liter) jar! That and candlelight make for a very relaxing bath!
Lori
Hi Lori
Nice to have another lavender lover visiting
Sounds great what you do with lavender and sea salt.
Sea salt has real healing powers as is evident on visiting the Dead Sea. So many people with skin conditions go there to bath and hopefully get some relief from their complaints.
Adding lavender essential oil and candlelight should prove to be very relaxing
Thanks for sharing this with us Lori.
Patricia Perth Australia
Hey Lavender Lady,
I read this post and I thought it could have been written for me
.
As you may know, I have horrible sleeping habits. I don’t go to bed before the wee hours of the night – or more like dawn. And it’s not on purpose. I love to sleep more than anything else. And I sleep a lot – but mostly on the weekends. But it’s my hours that are all messed up.
The plus side to that is that I get to catch my friends in the Northern Hemisphere but the down side is that I sleep when my world is already awake. Oh, and I need TV to fall asleep.
I’ve never tried putting lavender on my pillow so I’m gonna try that for sure – and if it works – I am going to give you the biggest virtual hug ever
.
I actually love the smell in general and use quite a few products that have the lavender scent so I’m excited to try this out soon I hope.
We have a lot of these old traditional recipes here – what we call “grandma’s recipes” and lavender is often one of the ingredients.
Incredible all the things that lavender can do. Thank you so much for sharing this and I really hope people try these things out.
Have a great Friday Patricia.
Cheers
Hi Ingrid
So that’s how you manage all those amazing comments, posts and all that networking. You just don’t sleep very often!!!
If you want to try any lavender products, just make sure that they are organic and I only buy English lavender products as it has the best perfume and used in good quality essential oils.
A lady here in Perth who suffered for years with insomnia is now rapt that she sleeps soundly every night now she sprays her pillow with my sourced lavender spray.
Of course she recommends the products to everyone she hears has the same problem! Great to get new customers from satisfied regular customers
Thanks for stopping by Comment Queen. Let me know if anything you try actually helps.

Hi Patricia,
Lavender is perfect for calming and rest! I used to suffer from migraines and insomnia. I used a lavender eye pillow to ease those migraines. That thing really worked well and lasted for a surprisingly long time.
While I never sprayed lavender on a pillow I did burn lavender candles regularly while watching tv before bed. I think both the migraines and insomnia were a result of hormone imbalance. The migraines have been gone for some years now. The insomnia is rather infrequent as well.
I know the lavender helped me sleep because now whenever I’m restless, it’s lavender candles to the rescue!
Hi Kathy
Great news about the migraines being treated effectively with the lovely lavender. I suffered migraines when I was younger and I remember what they were like….very painful!
With all the medical research being done, they now have some conclusive evidence of the lavenders many effective uses….sweet
I had lavender candles given me as a gift by my niece. They are very calming and the perfume is beautiful.
Thanks for your input Kathy. Glad you stopped by.
Patricia Perth Australia
Hi Patricia:
This blog post is awesome for your niche. I am sure you will get much more conversions from this post. I knew the relaxing attributes of Lavender. So, beauty sleep has to be a part of it.
I am using Lavender fragrance for several things, I add to my hand soap, and hand lotion. Works wonders to make me relax during the day.
Well written post. I enjoyed reading it.
Fran
Hi Fran
Thanks for stopping by and staying to join the conversation. And thanks for your kind words about my post.
Glad you enjoyed it. From the conversation going on, sounds like there are quite a few people who find getting to sleep a problem.
Have had so many satisfied customers tell me that the products are working for them. Wanted to share this post as not only sharing the many features of the lovely lavender, also give answers to the problem
As you already use lavender yourself, you know how relaxing it really is. I’m pleased to be able to share this with my readers too.
Patricia Perth Australia
Patricia,
I have not tried a lavender pillow but I do like lavender in my bath water it is very soothing.
This reminds me of an article I read about using lavender mist in you car while traveling. It was used to keep the kids calm.
Yep, Alex is the best at headlines. That is why I have chosen him for a judge in the headline blog challenge.
Hi Sheila
I have a lavender spray but that is being used for sleep or as an air freshener. Not heard lavender used to keep kids calm while travelling. Great idea
Read your post about the headlines. Alex truly is gifted with his quotes and headlines. Will be interesting to see what people come up with in your competition.
Thanks for stopping by.
Patricia Perth Australia
Hi Patricia,
I hope you and all your readers appreciate the treasure of being able to sleep so well. Until last year it was the norm for me too, then it was a case of waking around 2am every day for months. Ugh! If only you’d written this last year. Your lavender spray could have saved me so many hours of wakefulness. It’s a lovely idea for a gift - I can add a little card of explanation.
Your blog title stands out – I noticed it on Twitter. Clever.
Without lavender, the rest isn’t always easy
Hi Julia
As I say in my footnote it is thanks to Alex Whalley I have such a clever and catchy headline
If you ever want any lavender products then contact me via the contact me page. As you are local we could have a catchup and compare progress with our “steep learning curves” we are both experiencing with our respective business ventures.
Insomnia must be such an awful condition to suffer from. I know my neighbours and others in the area who have bought the products are so relieved that they work.
They re-order the products they want as they are now able to get a good night’s sleep…..much to their relief
Thanks for stopping by Julia. Have a great weekend.
Patricia Perth Australia
Patricia,
I’m sure you already know but I do have quite a bit of insomnia (generally up for 24 – 36 hours at a time).
I’m not the candle or oil type of guy but one thing that I’d be interested in is some kind of tea made from Lavender.
My GF got me hooked on tea (because she doesn’t like the amount of coffee I drink haha) after I bought her a nice brewing kit. I could definitely see myself switching over because I tend to drink coffee at night because I like hot drinks; tea would be a natural progression and if there’s something with Lavender than we could all win
Anyway, awesome to see that you’re placing a lot of work into your products. I think you’re going to do a wonderful job since you offer so much great information on the uses rather than what other companies do and just push the sale. You’re changing the lavender game
Hi Murray
Thanks for stopping by and joining the conversation. You’ll be pleased to know that my next post could be just what you are looking for
Good on your girlfriend for getting you to drink more tea. Much better for you than the coffee!
Thanks for your kind words about my posts. I had a good chat with Rob and after that, re-wrote this post with a different mindset.
You guys are teaching me heaps so I’m pleased you liked the post. I do enjoy researching the many uses of the lovely lavender. More to come……later
Patricia Perth Australia
Patricia, Patricia, once again you have found a way to get everyone talking about lavender….It’s an amazing gift you have, really.
I’m lucky in the sleep arena. I’m the type of guy that can do it anywhere, any how. For example, one time I was supposed to be babysitting the kids and when my wife came home and looked through the window, she saw me, fast asleep on the couch, with my 3 year old son standing on top of me. Can you believe that? It’s true.
Most nights, as soon as I’m done writing, like around 2am, I simply lie down in bed and close my eyes. Staying awake for more than a minute is very, very rare.
But, I do know my fair share of people that need your stuff, that’s for sure.
You’re the best Patricia.
Marcus
Hi Marcus
I’m not surprised you sleep well. I’ve read on your blog all the activities you fit into a day! Wow you are one busy yet organised guy.
And I’m just picturing you fast asleep with your young son standing on top of you LOL For that moment he was the lion king and not his Dad eh
If you know people who do have trouble sleeping, please send them over to read this post. Hopefully the information here will help lots of people find a solution to this problem. Thanks
Always good to have your input Marcus. Keep rockin’ the blogosphere Mr Sales Lion
Patricia Perth Australia
I could definitely use some of this. I think I’ll pick up some lavender spray. Sometimes not only do I have a hard time falling asleep, I then can’t *stay* asleep.
But is lavender “spray” the same thing as “oil”? I looked on your products page and I’m not quite sure…
I gotta get my “Z’s” on, y’all!
Hi John
Lavender spray isn’t the same as lavender essential oil. The lavender spray I sell is sourced here from a local lavender farm. If you wanted some, please email me.
Usually you would click on my Etsy store and it would take you to the products. However, for some reason the store is down! Still waiting for Etsy to sort.
If you wanted to get some lavender essential oil, you can click on the “lavender products” and it will take you to my Amazon products. I recommend organic English lavender products; which is what I sell from my store when it’s up!
Customers I have had testimonials from have either used the lavender spray or a lavender sleep pillow I sell. I’m so happy that these products have worked for them.
It must be awful to not be able to sleep at night, something I don’t have trouble with. BTW if you have any questions, just email me John and I’ll send you a reply ASAP
Patricia Perth Australia
Hi Patricia, Great title! Do you care to share with us the other title Alex crafted for you or do you want to keep it for a future blog?
I received your essential oils last week and started using them in a diffuser during my showers and throughout the day. How wonderful to feel more relaxed throughout the day and then sleep better at night.
Thank you for your wonderful products and delightful blog!
Hi Carolyn
The other title was similar to this one but I just thought this had a catchier headline. Alex is so good at thinking about all sorts of headlines for his own posts, really thought he might get stuck with a lavender theme LOL
However, he didn’t disappoint and the traffic has been steady. I’m sure some people are clicking over because of the title
although it does seem from the comments on this post, that quite a few people have trouble sleeping at night.
Being able to offer some suggestions that can help with this, sure makes me happy. And the sourced lavender products that are usually available through my Etsy store have a lot of my local customers very relieved that they can now get a good night’s sleep
Glad you received your lavender products and pleased that they are working well for you. And thankyou for your kind words about my blog Carolyn. Much appreciated.
Patricia Perth Australia
I do find myself lacking in sleep quite often, but it’s only because i got distracted a bit to much. 10:55 here now, and i started off trying to finish some school work, only to be reading blogs – and on specifically about ‘not being able to sleep’ lol!
Great post, it’s reminded me that i need to sleep some time around.
Hi Peter
Thanks for stopping by and joining the conversation. Hadn’t seen you around for a bit but figured you would be busy with schoolwork.
Easy to get distracted isn’t it??!! I know when I should be working on a project, easy to join a skype conversation or just check another blog post lol
All the best for your studies Peter. Thanks for stopping by….even if you should be doing homework
Patricia Perth Australia
I’ve never had any real trouble falling asleep but ever since I was living at home with my parents I have come to learn that a glass of chamomile was a great way to relax the nerves. Mom always made a cup of chamomile for me the night before any major exams. She said it would calm the nerves and help me to sleep.
I reckon of she knew about the lavender spray she would have sprayed it on my pillow for sure.
Hi Sire
Your Mum sounds like is a very wise woman. And chamomile tea is something a lot of people like too. I don’t suffer from insomnia either.
But I still like the beautiful lavender perfume wafting through my house. Makes for a very relaxing ambience, which my friends can enjoy when they visit too.
Thanks for stopping by Sire. Always good to have you join the conversation.
Patricia Perth Australia
Hi patricia, sorry its taken so long for me to get here but i’m still spending the majority of my time with my mum.
What a fantastic subject you’re covering here and one that i need, badly.
I can nornally get to sleep ok but I wake up after 10-30 minutes and then struggle to get back off. This has been happening for the last 16 years, I’ve spoke to dr’s who have prescribed sleeping tablets but only for a short time and the problem never goes away.
I started using night nurse on a regular basis, which is ok ish but i still get nights where that doesn’t work. I’ve tried various sleeping aids like sominex etc but they don’t work for me unless i’ve gone 2 or 3 nights without anything, but doing that just means i get into bed and lay there until it’s time to get up….. getting grumpier and grumpier as the clock ticks by.
I tried having a brake from the night nurse this saturday night just gone and having got into bed just after 23.00 hrs i laid there until 05.50 when i at last nodded off.
I’ve had a look at your store and found the spray you mentioned in your post but I’ll ask the wife to try and get some in town when she’s next going. If she can’t i’ll come back to you. I’d grab yours in the first place Patricia but the postage to UK doubles the price so i’ll look for it locally first.
Boy oh boy it would be so nice to get a good nights sleep and feel fresh in the mornings rather than looking at the bed and wanting to climb in.
Thanks for the detailed post Patricia and i look forward to getting to sleep tomorrow night.
I’ll come back and let you know how i got on.
Take care, Barry
Hi Barry
I truly understand what it’s like to have a sick relative. I nursed my Mum earlier in the year. Sure, I have a nursing background, but when it’s a relative it is so emotional and very stressful.
Thankfully my Mum recovered but she was seriously ill and only that I had the capabilities to nurse her at home, she would have been in hospital.
That’s definitely your priority and my thoughts are with you. As for the lavender spray, sorry I can’t recommend any closer to home for you.
I don’t know anyone else who sells it. This is from a local lavender farm. Email me if you can’t find any and I’ll be happy to send you some to try.
It must be so tiring not being able to sleep, especially with everything else you have going on.
Always good to have you stop by and join in the conversation Barry. All the best.

Hi Patricia, You were right my wife couldn’t find any in town. So I’ve been searching online and have found some pillow spray which i have just bought.
I’ll give it a try when it arrives and let you know how i got on with it.
I have been using Pure Essential Lavender oil since first reading this post, I put a few drops on the pillow and have been putting some in an oil burner and leaving it to burn out (safely). My sleeping has improved slightly since doing so.
I have had one night of clock watching until the early hours, which is an improvement on every night of clock watching.
I’ll come back to you when the pillow spray arrives and I’ve given it a good go.
Catch up soon Patricia
Barry
Great news Barry. The one I sell is sourced locally and is English lavender that is chemical free. From the feedback I have had, it is working well for lots of people who have suffered for a long time with insomnia.
Hope you find the one your wife has sourced will work for you too. Let me know how you get on.

Hi patricia,
Having used the Oil burner and pillow spray for a few weeks now I can say that I am sleeping better but still get the odd night where i just can’t get off.
Mind you patricia the odd night is a vast improvement on every night.
Also rather than waking every few minutes I now only wake once or twice through the night so it does help.
Thank you patricia, have a great weekend.
Respect and Regards, Barry
That’s great news Barry. I know one of my regular customers had insomnia for about 10 years and since using the lavender spray, she sleeps soundly.
Of course she tells anyone who will listen how wonderful my locally sourced lavender products are
Consequently the word has got out that lavender does work with assisting sleep and relaxation. So glad it is working for you too Barry. And thanks for letting me know

Hi there Patricia,
How are you? I hope all is good.
I for the most part don’t have problems sleeping but I got to tell you from knowing your blog I never knew that lavender can do so many things, that’s amazing.
It’s funny how back then people knew about lavender and to today the medical profession is just starting to confirm it’s findings.
Just be careful though, the medical profession makes a lot of money with pharmaceutical drugs.
I don’t think they’d want to know that lavender can do the same thing if not better their expensive drugs can.
Terry Conti
Hi Terry
I’m well. Thanks for asking. Glad to be giving you some useful information on your visits. The many uses of the lovely lavender are truly amazing aren’t they?!
In my last post where I shared about treatment for Athletes foot, I came to the conclusion after reading the findings, that the medicos would have been relieved to find an alternative treatment.
Most of the antifungicidal medication that had been used by them are now ineffective. So to find that lavender essential oil worked, must have been a relief.
It will now be interesting to see if they now do controlled studies. Of course, natural health was around long before pharmocopia became the chosen treatment in so many countries today.
Seems to be a turnaround now though; by the number of research papers I’m reading about this amazing aromatic herb
And for me to hear about successful results from my satisfied customers makes me happy. So much better to use natural products free from chemicals wouldn’t you say
Thanks for your input to the conversation here Terry. Appreciated.

I drop by just to see what’s up Patricia, and I can report I have a lavendar plugin airfreshener thingy. It’s nice, but I can’t leave it on too long; not sure if it helps me sleep, but it makes things smell nice.
Hi Davina
Always good to have you drop by. Is it organic lavender or one of those commercial air fresheners?!
Does the aroma get too overpowering for you? Is that why you can’t leave it on too long? I had one given to me and it was one of those commercial air fresheners!
It was definitely too overpowering and so different to my lovely lavender products that are organic. Probably because they don’t have any additives or chemicals in them. They have a subtle perfume and do have relaxing properties that’s for sure.
For me, the most satisfying part of doing research and finding yet more uses for the lovely lavender, is that I can share my findings. This then means that those who visit and read my posts can make informed choices…sweet

I stumbled on here from The Sales Lions blog. I was like, a community built around Lavender? Huh?
Then I got here and understood. This blog is a testament to just following a passion. Kudos!!
Hi Rohan
Welcome to my small niche blog. I did do a post entitled: “Small Blog, Big Ideas” cos it was a big leap of faith to be blogging about a single flower LOL
I just checked out your blog and see you are blogging about Washington DC…small niche too
And a few people did question if I would run out of topics to share. Not at the moment and I’m in the process of writing an ebook on “All Things Lavender” so there’s definitely more to come.
Added another section awhile back “Patricia’s Ponderings” after some of my blogging friends suggested I share about blogging and networking. They have also proved popular, but my main focus is still the lovely lavender.
Appreciate you stopping by and staying to comment. Thanks Rohan. Hope your blogging journey goes well too.

I don’t have much trouble sleeping but my partner sometimes does. i’ll recommend that shes tries some lavender spray on her pillow. thanks!
Hi Andy
Thanks for stopping by and joining the conversation. I don’t have trouble sleeping either. Seems to be a real problem with quite a few people though.
Have had lots of people who have told me they are now sleeping well after discovering the lovely lavender products.
I am very pleased to have satisfied customers who now sleep soundly and who re-order the products because they know they work
I always recommend organic English lavender, which is the lavender I sell in my Etsy store. lt is also available in my Amazon store. It is the most popular essential oil and has a beautiful subtle perfume.
Aromatherapists use it frequently and when you choose organic products, you are getting products free of chemicals and pesticides.
Hope that helps. Appreciate your input and good to see you amongst the lovely lavenders Andy.

Hi Patricia,
Wow, I didn’t know that soldiers would relax in a bath of fresh lavendar flowers after being welcomed home. Interesting!
Well, as they always say, you learn something new everyday.
Sleep is random for me. Sometimes I can sleep like a baby, but at others it will take me literally over an hour to fall asleep. It has gotten so that I was thinking about maybe buying Nyquil or sleeping pills to rest my eyes. I had no clue lavender would do the trick – wow!
This is my first time on your blog, and I can definitely say that I’m going to stick around – and check out some of that lavender spray!
Christina
Hi Christina
Welcome to my small niche lavender blog. I did this post on insomnia and the one I published last night is also following on from the theme and is about lavender tea which also helps with sleep
The advantage of using natural products is they are free from chemicals and you don’t get the side effects of pharmacopia.
I am pleased to be able to report that I have lots of satisfied customers who have found them very effective in getting them a good night’s sleep.
I come from a nursing background so really enjoy reading all the medical research being done into the many uses of the lovely lavender.
There’s plenty of posts on the blog about different aspects of the lovely lavender for you to read. Hope you enjoy them and take some helpful information away with you.
Thanks for stopping by Christina and joining the conversation. Appreciated.

I will keep these tips in mind, Patricia. I do have two hyper-active boys who might need the relaxing powers of lavender before they go to sleep. I might even have some use of this myself at one time or another.
Hi Wes
The wonderful thing about all these tips is that they work
I have satified customers who can testify to the fact that they now sleep peacefully at night after years of insomnia or broken sleep.
I was so pleased when I started getting testimonials and other local customers stopping me in the street and telling me they now slept well at night.
And the other benefit is with natural organic products there are not the serious side effects that many pharmocopia products have.

Hi Patricia
If there is one thing that I do well it’s sleep.
But if I didn’t, I know what to do.
The smell of lavender is gorgeous.
I have a few lavender plants in my front garden and I loce crushing the flowers and taking in the scent.
Love lavender.
Your blog / business goes from strength to strength Patricia.
When people go on about finding the right niche, they should come over to check out the Lavender Lady.
Hi Keith
Yes I agree with you that lavender has a beautiful perfume. Glad to know you are one of the lavender lovers who visits. There are more now than when I first started this blog….sweet
It has been hard work and determination just getting this small niche blog firstly out there and known in the blogosphere and then it being a platform for my fledgling business.
Along the way I have met some amazing people, some who are now dear friends. And I have heaps of blogging buddies who have cheered me on and encouraged me on my journey.
Now here’s to continued growth and eventual success for all of us willing to work hard, persevere and share our lessons learnt with each other. It’s a great community I am now an active part of. What more could I ask for
Thanks for dropping by and bringing your input to the conversation Keith. Appreciated.

Using the oil in a diffuser has helped me most. Growing up my mother always had one running, with lavender in the air. Aaah, such a comforting smell.
Hi Christian
My niece bought me a diffuser as a gift. I haven’t used it yet but I am surrounded by many lavender products and I do find them very relaxing.
Your Mother made an excellent choice having the lovely lavender wafting through the air. Your home must have smelt amazing

I have been using Lavender for sleep for quite a while now. I sip Lavender tea, spray the lavender water on my bed sheets and sometimes use a Lavender candle. I have problems with Tinnitus, and it helps to calm me. You really know your Lavender inside and out. Nice site
Hi Dori
Thanks for stopping by and staying to comment. Glad you enjoyed the post. And thanks for the kind words about my site too.
For me, I enjoy doing the research and then sharing this amazing aromatic herb’s many uses with my readers.
Hopefully it means people will then be able to make informed choices when choosing lavender products and also learn more about the lovely lavenders many uses.

Patricia, thanks for getting back to me. I could go back and forth with you about Lavender all day. My fondness for Lavender started back in the early 90′s when I was lucky enough to schedule a trip to Provence in the height of Lavender season. I stocked up on everything from pillows to oil to fine soaps which I adore. I live in the states, but every time I get a wiff I am instantly transported back to the amazing south of France. Have you ever been?
Hi Dori
Always nice to meet another lavender lover. I haven’t been to Provence but I have been to Norfolk Lavender farm in the UK. That was a delightful experience.
Like you; I love the beautiful perfume and all the many products too. There is an organic lavender farm about an hour from where I live and that’s where I get my products to sell and also to use myself.
The first thing people can smell when they enter my home is the lovely lavender wafting through the air. People say it is very relaxing and I agree.
Have a great week Dori and thanks for stopping by again.

Yes, Yes, Yes Lavender helps insomnia and anxiety in so many ways. Not to mention all the other miriad of uses
Hi, Pat
I just found your blog this morning and love it! I have always liked the smell of Lavender but didn’t know it had so many uses. I am excited to get the oils recommended for insomnia and give that a try. I was diagnosed as an insomniac in my 30′s (I’m now in my 60′s) and to say that I walk around exhausted all the time is an understatement. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to find something that would help me sleep! I notice all the other posts are from 2011 so I still hope you are keeping up this great blog.
Hi Celie
Welcome to my small niche lavender blog. Glad you have learnt more about the many uses of this amazing aromatic herb by visiting here.
And yes I am still enjoying the lovely lavender and now I have found some beautiful organic products to promote, will keep pressing on for the moment with “All things lavender”.
However, as I need to grow my online business, don’t spend as much time promoting my blog as I did in the past.
My other sites are the ones that will hopefully grow my business, so have to concentrate on them for the moment.
There is heaps to write about the many uses of lavender, just only 24 hours in the day to fit everything in
